We've been asked a few times if organizers can upload volunteer names and contact information into the online signup sheet. Although we don't offer the functionality to upload large CSV data files, VolunteerSpot makes it quite easy to capture volunteer names and contact information for your activities. You may either add the names when you invite volunteers with an email, or volunteers may add their own names and phone numbers when they sign up.
To pre-populate your volunteer invitation with names and email addresses, you should COPY the email addresses from your current address book in a format like this:
Suzy Smith <ssmith@zmail.com> or Suzy Smith [Suzy_Smith@zmail.com]
VolunteerSpot 'reads' the email address inside the symbols < > or [ ] and will capture and categorize the names/emails for you and enter them into our system. Be sure to separate each individual by a comma, semicolon, or a new line.
Another option is to generate a URL Link to paste in your own email, or an HTML Sign Up button to embed in your website. Volunteers entering through a URL or Sign Up Button, will be asked to enter their OWN names and phone numbers upon signup. Here's our article about how that works, with screen shots.
Once volunteers have been invited once, you may invite Volunteers from a previous activity. All contact information will be retained from activity-to-activity.
