Tax Day & the Tiny Charitable Mileage Rate
It's Tax Day and while we all breathe sighs of relief (or urgently file extensions), we at VolunteerSpot wanted to shed light once more on the serious charitable mileage rate issue facing volunteers everywhere day in and day out.
Our TinyCars campaign began back in January with the goal of spreading awareness regarding the tiny 14 cent mileage rate volunteers are allowed by law (opposed to 55 cents per business mile). We have been inspired as our community has read, watched, and shared the story over the past three months.
National Volunteer Week coincides with Tax Day this year, and what better way to honor and celebrate volunteers than to say YOU DESERVE MORE! Help us continue to bring attention to the TinyCars issue - visit our campaign page, share our video and campaign pictures, and reach out on social media to let everyone know how they can show their support! Tiny charitable mileage rates affect all types of volunteers, especially in a time where gas prices are soaring, food insecurity in our country grows, and natural phenomena causes unprecendented destruction. Volunteers are the backbone of local and nation-wide efforts to do good and make a difference; they deserve more and we look forward to continuing to fight to honor their good work!
