All About Parenting's Mom Congress Initiative, and How You Can Get Involved
Each year, we gather outstanding moms who have made a difference from every state for an annual conference in Washington DC, where they meet with leaders in education and advocacy to discuss the best ways to effect positive change in education. Speakers range from U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and NEA VP Lily Eskelsen, to celebrity chef and school nutrition advocate Jamie Oliver and Save the ChildrenVP Mark Kennedy Shriver. Watch video highlights from a past Mom Congress conference here.
Our goal is to provide these amazing moms with the tools, resources and connections they need to plant seeds of change in their communities, and to shine a spotlight on their efforts to inspire millions more to do the same. Our past two classes of Mom Congress delegates have gone on to create nationwide book drives, disaster relief initiatives, improved school nutrition programs; one mom even used her Mom Congress experience to run for U.S. Congress—and won!
For year-round education news and resources, the School Years edition ofParenting and our regularly-updated Mom Congress blog covers all the latest education news, gives readers information on how any parent can make a difference in their schools, and highlights the efforts of some of its 21,000+ Mom Congress members. You can also Like Mom Congress on Facebook to connect with other moms on education issues.
