Make Martin Luther King, Jr. Day One of Service to Others

2. Serve from School - Are you a teacher? Room parent? Educator? If school is in session, make a point to honor MLK, Jr.'s legacy with simple service projects in the classroom. Encourage students to bring canned goods to class for donating a local food bank. Or take one lesson plan's time to make cards to troops abroad, for local civic leaders, or for children in a nearby shelter.
