VolunteerSpotlight | Lisa Abrams
No one can argue that playing sports is a great way for kids to get exercise, build confidence, and make friends...but it can be a hassle for parents who want to help coordinate snacks, potluck dinners, and coaches gifts.
Today, our Volunteer Spotlight shines on Lisa Abrams, who used VolunteerSpot's online signup sheets to coordinate parent helpers for her kid's soccer team.

Please tell us about your group/team and your volunteer needs.
I was organizing a potluck dinner for my son's soccer team--rather than have everyone email everyone else to make sure that we had enough of each item, I decided to try out Volunteer spot.
Explain how you use VolunteerSpot to coordinate these volunteers.
I set up the event on the calendar and then added "what to bring tasks", numbered how many of each 'task" we needed (i.e. appetizers, main courses, drinks, etc) including a task for donating $10 to the coaches gifts. I was able to check in regularly and easily see what still needed to be done, and who had not yet signed up. All the other parents could easily see what had been signed up for and what was still needed. I also used the saved event to send out a thank you to all the volunteers so I didn't have to look up and type everyone's email.
What’s one piece of advice you have for volunteers or their leaders out there?
My one piece of advice is--don't try this any other way!! I have spent hours in past years coordinating dinners, snack schedules, sending reminders etc etc--Volunteerspot takes all the work out of it, sends people reminders, sends you a status update, and makes it all easy!!
We salute Lisa and all the other volunteer leaders out there making a difference. If you're using VolunteerSpot, write and tell us about what you're doing and give us a chance to shine our Volunteer Spotlight on you!! Just email us at [email protected].
